A Day of Service and Celebration in Honor of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Faneuil Hall 20.1.2020

“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.”

— Martin Luther King Jr.

I went into Boston on January 20th, attempting to experience and document how this city celebrates the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.. There were events all around and residents of all ages, races, and class came out to participate.

I attended “A Day of Service and Celebration in Honor of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” in Faneuil Hall’s Ballroom. It featured performances by the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and lyric tenor Pierre Gardy Fontaine as well as speeches from multiple community leaders. Speakers included Dr. Emmett G. Price III, Uche Ndukwe, Regie Gibson, Leon E. Wilson, and L’Merchie Frazier.

Regie Gibson gives an impassioned speech to the crowd at Faneuil Hall, January 20th, 2020.

The speeches were amazing and inspiring, BYSO performed beautifully, and the audience all came together to sing along.
